Abidjan, March 15 (NationPress) The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, made an official visit to Cote d'Ivoire, engaging in discussions with his Ivorian counterpart Leon Kacou Adom at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abidjan.

A primary focus of their conversations on Friday was the establishment of an aviation cooperation agreement, which aims to create direct flight services between the two nations, potentially operated by an airline from either country, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

In addition to aviation, the ministers examined avenues for joint efforts in education and diplomatic training. Vieira underscored the robust social and cultural connections between Brazil and Cote d'Ivoire, noting the considerable opportunities for enhancement in bilateral trade.

“Our goal is to bolster collaboration and present more opportunities for young Ivorian diplomats to pursue studies at Brazil's diplomatic academy,” he indicated.

Adom pointed out the economic parallels between Cote d'Ivoire and Brazil, particularly in sectors like agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. He highlighted the potential for developing and optimizing these resources through South-South cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships.

“We intend to formalize a strategic partnership agreement to pinpoint key areas for collaboration and energize our bilateral relations,” he further stated.

The two officials also shared insights on multilateral concerns, including the reform of the United Nations Security Council and the upcoming COP30 event scheduled to be held in Brazil in November 2025.

During the discussions, Vieira extended a formal invitation to Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara and his Ivorian counterpart to visit Brazil.
