Patna, Feb 23 (NationPress) Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan traveled to Bihar's Darbhanga district on Sunday, prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Bhagalpur.
During his visit, he interacted with Makhana farmers, addressing the challenges they face in farming and crop marketing.
He attentively listened to the farmers' concerns and promised government assistance to enhance Makhana cultivation and trade.
The Union Minister actively participated in the Makhana planting alongside farmers in the agricultural fields of Darbhanga.
"PM Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Bhagalpur to announce financial support for farmers. With a single click, ₹22,700 crore will be disbursed to farmers across India, aiding approximately 77 lakh farmers in Bihar," he stated.
Minister Chouhan underscored that the NDA government does not create policies solely from Krishi Bhawan but actively engages with farmers.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to Makhana farmers and elaborated on plans to establish a Makhana Board to address their issues.
"When forming the Makhana Board, the government will consider the suggestions of Makhana farmers to ensure their voices are heard. The NDA government prioritizes direct engagement with farmers instead of isolated policymaking," Minister Chouhan added.
The Union Minister is slated to visit Bhagalpur to oversee preparations for the Prime Minister's event.
"The Prime Minister's visit to Bhagalpur is not politically motivated, as he will also be traveling to Assam, where elections are not on the agenda. Our Prime Minister's visits stand in contrast to previous governments. We remain committed to the people," he remarked.
PM Modi is expected to arrive in Bhagalpur on Monday around noon and will spend over an hour at the venue. He will address a large rally and unveil the 19th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi for farmers nationwide.
BJP leaders anticipate that over five lakh farmers will attend the Prime Minister's event.
