New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Thursday that sprinklers and smog guns will be utilized year-round—except during the monsoon—to combat pollution in the capital.

In her efforts to create a pollution-free Delhi, the Chief Minister shared her vision for a clean, green, and healthy city.

"We are committed to building a clean and healthy capital with the active participation of Delhi's residents," CM Gupta stated in a post on X.

She led a meeting to discuss strategies for enhancing the cleanliness and reducing pollution levels in the national capital, which was attended by Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and senior officials from various departments, including the Delhi Police and the Commission for Air Quality Management.

During the meeting, CM Gupta directed the relevant departments and agencies to expedite their pollution-control initiatives.

She also called for an increase in the number of enforcement teams at Delhi's borders to monitor vehicle emissions.

"Vehicles entering from outside Delhi are a major source of pollution. Thus, we have tasked departments with enhancing monitoring teams at border points and installing digital display boards to raise awareness about pollution," her statement noted.

Stressing the importance of regular maintenance to mitigate dust pollution, CM Gupta remarked, "All agencies responsible for road maintenance, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, public works department, and the Delhi Development Authority, must submit weekly reports on road repairs and cleanliness."

The review focused on major pollution contributors, with the Chief Minister emphasizing that strict monitoring and prompt action would follow any infractions.

CM Gupta instructed officials to present a comprehensive action plan within a week for coordinated efforts across departments.

"Our government is dedicated to protecting Delhi's residents from air pollution. Regular inspections and prompt responses are vital for enhancing air quality," CM Gupta asserted.

She added that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi government has intensified its efforts to tackle air pollution as part of the Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra (Developed Delhi Resolution).

"We have begun necessary preparations to ensure a cleaner, pollution-free capital."

All relevant departments were also instructed to implement concrete and effective measures to accelerate their pollution-control efforts, the Chief Minister stated.
