Jaipur, Feb 5 (NationPress) Tragically, two devotees lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries when a sleeper bus, returning from the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj to Hanumangarh (Rajasthan), overturned on the Jaipur-Agra Highway on Wednesday.

Villagers, hearing a loud noise from the overturned bus, hurried to the scene to assist in rescuing passengers trapped inside the vehicle.

As reported by Balaheri Police Station in-charge Bhagwan Sahay, the incident took place near Peepalkheda village when the bus lost control while attempting to avoid colliding with cattle on the road.

Local police and villagers collaborated to transport the injured to Mahwa District Hospital, with seven severely injured individuals later transferred to Dausa District Hospital.

The deceased women were identified as Sundar Devi Jat (50) from Haripura, Sangaria, Hanumangarh, and Bhanwari Devi Sharma (65) from Sardarshahar, Churu.

Medical professionals confirmed that both victims had suffered significant internal head injuries, with Sundar Devi also having a severe cut that severed her left ear.

ASI Siyaram Meena provided information on the injured, who included residents from Hanumangarh, Churu, and Sirsa (Haryana).

After receiving initial treatment, seven injured individuals were admitted to Dausa District Hospital, and five critical cases were later transferred to Jaipur for advanced care.

The accident created a traffic jam on the highway.

Local police acted swiftly to clear the overturned bus and restore traffic flow.

Residents of Peepalkheda were awakened by the loud crash noise.

Upon hearing the commotion, they rushed to the highway, promptly alerting police and aiding in the rescue operations. Passengers, many in shock, cried out for assistance.

Villagers collaborated to extract the injured from the wreckage and transport them to medical facilities.

The police are conducting an investigation into the incident and are advising drivers to exercise caution, especially regarding stray animals on the road.
