Bengaluru, April 30 (NationPress) In a significant ruling, the Karnataka High Court has issued an order to dismiss the legal proceedings against Dr. Madhukar G Angur, the former Chancellor of Alliance University.

Dr. Angur was accused of improperly utilizing the university's name, seals, and intellectual property, along with making misleading assertions about his role as Chancellor.

The court's decision highlighted: “Upon reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case, the complaint appears to be a means of personal vendetta against the petitioner, masking itself as a civil matter and thus taking on a criminal aspect. In light of such conditions, this Court must invoke its authority under Section 482 of the Cr.P.C. to eliminate this purported crime; otherwise, it would constitute a misuse of legal procedures and lead to a miscarriage of justice.”

The panel declared: “The proceedings in C.C.No.3218 of 2021, currently before the I Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Bengaluru, linked to crime number 60 of 2016 from the Cyber Crime Police Station in Bangalore, are hereby quashed.”

The ruling further remarked: “Deepika Kalia, representing the State, argued passionately against the Court's intervention and requested additional time to present more documents. However, the charge-sheet is clear, and there is no room for enhancement of the charge-sheet alongside the FIR, whether through document submission, affidavit, or oral arguments.”

The judgment indicated, “The petitioner served as the Ex-Chancellor of Alliance University. A significant conflict arose among the Board of Directors due to alleged financial misconduct, including fund misappropriation, leading to the petitioner’s dismissal from his Chancellor position by the Board of Directors of the sponsoring entity, Alliance Business School. Following this termination, the contentious complaint was lodged on June 15, 2016.”

Dr. Angur challenged the case against the State via the Deputy Superintendent of Police from the Cyber Crime Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Abhay Chebbi from Alliance Business School.

The criminal petition sought the dismissal of the police's chargesheet. The court reserved its decision and announced it on April 22. Senior attorney Kiran Javali represented the petitioner, while Additional State Public Prosecutor B.N. Jagadeesha and senior counsel Shyam Sundar represented the respondents.
