Jaipur, March 6 (NationPress) An MBBS student was tragically found hanging in his hostel room in Rajasthan's Kota district, police officials reported on Thursday.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Sunil Bairwa, whose body was discovered suspended from a ceiling fan in his room on Wednesday night, according to police.

A suicide note was recovered, revealing Sunil's feelings of inadequacy in meeting his parents' aspirations, along with an apology.

In the wake of this incident, both undergraduate and postgraduate students staged protests outside the principal's office, voicing their discontent with the college administration and demanding accountability.

According to Mahavir Nagar police station ASI Mohanlal, police promptly responded to the situation, sending the body for a post-mortem examination.

Sunil's father, Kajodmal, disclosed that his son gained admission to Kota Medical College in the 2019-2020 academic year after successfully passing the NEET examination.

“However, the college authorities intentionally withheld his results in the first-year exam. We contested this at Rajasthan Health Science University (RUSH), which resulted in a re-evaluation, ultimately declaring Sunil passed after a delay of 7-8 months. He managed to clear his second-year exams, but during his third year, he was accused of cheating, leading to the cancellation of two exams. Consequently, he faced a ban from the college for the last one and a half years,” the family stated.

Recently, when he sought to discuss his situation with the college administration, he allegedly experienced harassment, which his family believes drove him to this tragic decision.

Kamal, a senior peer of Sunil, asserted that not all students receive equal treatment at Kota Medical College.

Kamal emphasized that Sunil had been persistently requesting a chance to take his exams, but his pleas were consistently rejected.

“Every time he approached them, he was reprimanded and dismissed,” Kamal remarked.

He further noted that Sunil's mental health had been declining over the past three months.

As student protests gain momentum, there is an increasing call for an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Meanwhile, police have assured that further inquiries will be conducted based on the family’s allegations.

College Principal Sangeeta Saxena mentioned that a five-member team has been formed to investigate the matter.
