  • Simbu aims to make Tamil cinema proud.
  • Audience response will determine the film's success.

Chennai, Feb 5 (NationPress) Actor Simbu, also known as Silambarasan, who delighted his devoted fans by sharing updates on three of his films in succession on his birthday, February 3, clarified that the nearly two-year hiatus in releasing a film was not something he had planned.

Simbu’s last cinematic release was Obeli N Krishna’s Pathu Thala, which premiered in early 2023.

During a recent Spaces meet on X, Simbu expressed, “To the fans, I wish to say, this gap was not something that we expected. I have seen several people comment on social media, 'He has not done a film for two years. Why is he wasting time for this film (his 50th film that is to be directed by Desingh Periyasamy)?’

“It's easy to speak from the outside. But when you see it from the inside, you understand that there is a commitment for that film. Desingh has been patiently waiting for this project, and if I decide to take on another film, what happens to him? Therefore, resolving all these matters and moving forward with this film has taken time. However, I truly wanted this project to materialize,” he explained to fans who were worried on social media about their beloved actor not releasing a film for nearly two years.

Offering further insights into his upcoming 50th film, which he will produce himself, Simbu stated, “Many people assume we are creating a film like ‘Baahubali’. That is not our aim. Our goal is straightforward. We genuinely believe that this script will elevate Tamil cinema. We aim to showcase that belief. Whether it succeeds or fails, only the audience can determine.”
