New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) Over the past 40-50 years, the automotive sector has been regarded as a luxury industry encumbered by excessive taxation. Recently, the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has come to recognize the multiplier effect that the auto sector holds, stated Dilip Chhabria, the founder of the automotive customization firm DC2 Design, on Monday.

During an interview with IANS at the ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025’, Chhabria praised PM Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, calling it commendable.

“In any developed nation, the value of the country is gauged by its automotive industry — whether it’s the US, Japan, or China. I anticipate that India’s growth will reflect this. The aspiration levels are exceedingly high while the penetration levels remain quite low, paving the way for substantial growth in the sector,” he remarked.

Regarding India’s electric vehicle (EV) ambitions, he pointed out that it is inevitable for every nation to transition significantly to electric vehicles due to stringent emission regulations.

“It will become challenging for ICE vehicles to meet the emission standards. This shift will lessen our reliance on West Asia for fossil fuels,” Chhabria elaborated.

“Additionally, with the backing of the government and associated subsidies, we expect that at least 30 to 40 percent of the vehicles on the roads will be electric within the next decade,” he conveyed to IANS.

At the auto expo, DC2 introduced two innovative products: the e-TANQ, a cutting-edge off-road vehicle, and Europa, an ultra-luxurious mobile showroom.

Designed internally by DC2 in partnership with Mercury EV-Tech Ltd, the e-TANQ is an all-electric commercial vehicle poised to transform urban and commercial transport.

With a robust 180 kWh battery yielding 650 BHP, this futuristic off-roader marries performance with sustainability.

“While we will continue our journey in the customization space, this partnership aims to deliver extraordinary electric vehicles,” Chhabria highlighted.

Moreover, DC2 presented Europa, a unique mobile showroom, in collaboration with Goldmedal Electricals, one of India’s foremost Fast Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG) companies. The state-of-the-art mobile showroom was developed at an investment of Rs 18 crore.

“We will maintain our focus on the niche segment, as we do not wish to enter the commodity market. We trust there will be enthusiasts eager for our products,” concluded Chhabria.
