New Delhi, Jan 27 (NationPress) The skilled workforce in India is receiving significant global appreciation, according to Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), on Monday.
“India’s skilled workforce is gaining significant global recognition, with our talent pool being extensively acknowledged. Our rise as a global skill capital stands as a testament to our dedication to excellence,” stated Chaudhary while sharing insights from his discussions with international business leaders at the recent Annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. He also emphasized a global requirement for skilled professionals.
The Minister noted that conversations at Davos also focused on sustainability, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, and a commitment to women-led development. On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Chaudhary also commemorated the accomplishments of 100 distinguished entrepreneurs from across India within the skill ecosystem at a special event held at Kaushal Bhawan in the national capital.
These entrepreneurs, hailing from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and the Northeast, were recognized by the government and were also celebrated as special guests at the Republic Day parade, acknowledging their essential role in driving the nation’s growth and innovation under the Skill India Mission.
Chaudhary praised the entrepreneurs present for enhancing India’s reputation as a source of skilled talent.
“The involvement of 100 entrepreneurs at this national celebration highlights the impact of our skilling initiatives. These programs have empowered individuals nationwide, creating sustainable livelihoods and motivating others to embark on entrepreneurial paths,” he remarked.
India’s startup ecosystem is the largest globally, boasting 118 unicorns valued at $354 billion. This success is fueled by visionary policies, effective execution, and the resilience of entrepreneurs.
The vital role of the MSME sector was also emphasized, comprising 63 million enterprises, employing over 11 crore individuals, and contributing 30 percent to the GDP and 45 percent to exports.
Furthermore, the transformative influence of the Skill India Mission was acknowledged, emphasizing its role in empowering youth and promoting self-reliance (AtmaNirbhar Bharat).
