Mumbai, Jan 19 (NationPress) India has risen as a global nexus for startups and innovation under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh.

During the launch of India’s first CSIR Mega ‘Innovation Complex’ in Mumbai, dedicated to startups and industry stakeholders, the minister expressed, “We take pride in being the third-largest startup ecosystem globally, boasting over 100 unicorns that exemplify India's entrepreneurial zeal.”

“This impressive growth mirrors the transformative initiatives and policies enacted by our government to uplift the youth and promote economic self-reliance,” he added.

The newly established ‘Innovation Complex’ spans nine floors, featuring 24 “ready-to-move” incubation labs along with furnished office and networking spaces tailored for innovative startups, MSMEs, industry professionals, and CSIR labs.

This facility will offer top-tier scientific infrastructure, expertise, and regulatory assistance to stakeholders including CSIR labs, startups, MSMEs, and industry, facilitating SOP-driven studies essential for regulatory compliance.

“This inauguration marks the outset of our journey. We are enthusiastic about the future possibilities and the substantial contributions this Innovation Complex will make to India’s growth narrative,” remarked the minister.

The CSIR ‘Innovation Complex’ in Mumbai arrives at a crucial juncture in India’s startup evolution.

It aims to bridge the gap between advanced science and its application in solving real-world issues, thereby aiding in the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Dr Jitendra emphasized the high-end scientific infrastructure and expertise designed to address critical unmet needs (covering lab-to-regulator and regulator-to-industry domains) for startups, MSMEs, and CSIR labs, while accelerating tech-transfer processes.

The complex will operate as an innovation and incubation hub to support, collaborate, and partner in vital industrial sectors including healthcare (pharma, biopharma, medtech), chemicals, materials, energy, and other pertinent areas of interest to CSIR labs.
