New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) Following a tragic terror attack in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, including tourists and an intelligence officer, leaders around the globe have vehemently condemned the violence and expressed their condolences.
The incident took place on Tuesday in the stunning Baisaran Valley, where terrorists emerged from nearby forests and opened fire recklessly on a group of tourists, causing numerous injuries alongside the fatalities.
Initial reports indicate that the Pakistan-based terrorist group, The Resistance Front, a faction of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for this attack, marking it as one of the most severe assaults in the area in recent years.
In light of the international outrage and grief, global leaders have issued strong messages of support and sympathy.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni conveyed her sorrow over the attack, characterizing the incident as “deeply saddening.” In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), she stated, “Deeply saddened by the terrorist attack that occurred today in India, which resulted in numerous victims. Italy sends its condolences to the families affected, the injured, the government, and all the Indian people.”
Firmly denouncing the violence, the Government of Sri Lanka remarked, “We strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”
The statement also highlighted Sri Lanka’s steadfast commitment to regional peace, asserting, “Sri Lanka stands in firm solidarity with the Government and people of India in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
The Government of Iran also conveyed a heartfelt message of solidarity.
