President Trump reached out to Prime Minister Modi to offer US support and express condolences following the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of numerous tourists.

A summary of the White House call is pending, yet the administration has been clear and firm in denouncing the attack while extending support to Modi and the citizens of India in the aftermath of this “brutal” act, as noted by White House spokesperson Karoline Levitt during her daily briefing.

“President Donald Trump @realDonaldTrump @POTUS contacted PM @narendramodi and expressed his heartfelt condolences for the innocent lives lost in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. President Trump vehemently condemned the attack and pledged full support to India in seeking justice for the perpetrators of this atrocious incident. The United States and India stand united in the battle against terrorism,” stated Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, in a post on X.

An Indian government official, who requested anonymity, shared with IANS that PM Modi conveyed to the American leader, “India is committed to bringing the individuals and supporters behind this cowardly and heinous terrorist act to justice.”

The official did not identify any individuals, but it was evident that the Prime Minister aimed to hold accountable not just those who executed the attack but also their sponsors.

The Modi government previously carried out “surgical strikes” in response to the 2016 Uri terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of 17 Indian soldiers. In 2019, Indian Air Force fighter jets targeted a terrorist camp in Balakot, deep inside Pakistan, as retaliation for a terrorist assault on a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force personnel, leading to the loss of 48 servicemen.
