Moscow, Jan 20 (NationPress) Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Monday that his nation is ready for discussions with the newly elected U.S. administration concerning the Ukraine crisis.
"The primary objective is to address the foundational issues of the crisis," Putin remarked during a convening with members of the country's Security Council, as reported by a statement from the Kremlin.
He emphasized that any potential solution to the Ukraine crisis should not merely entail a temporary ceasefire to reorganize forces for further conflict but rather aim for a lasting peace that respects the legitimate interests of all nations in the area.
"The expectation is that dialogue will be established on the basis of equality and mutual respect, acknowledging the significant roles our nations play in addressing vital matters, such as strategic stability and security," Putin stated.
The Russian leader highlighted that Moscow has never turned away from discussions and has consistently been open to collaborative efforts with any U.S. administration.
