Hyderabad, April 24 (NationPress) Fourteen Maoists have surrendered to the authorities in Warangal district of Telangana on Thursday.

Among the individuals surrendering were members of the outlawed CPI-Maoist, which included two area committee members, who presented themselves to Inspector General Chandrasekhar Reddy.

This incident occurred during an ongoing, rigorous anti-Maoist operation conducted by security forces near the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border.

Reports indicate that six Maoists were killed during an exchange of fire with central paramilitary forces in the Karreguttala region of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, which borders the Mulugu district of Telangana.

The Inspector General remarked that this surrender is part of a sustained initiative designed to motivate Maoists to abandon violence and reintegrate into mainstream society.

He disclosed that each surrendering individual received Rs 25,000 as immediate financial aid. With these latest surrenders, the total number of Maoists who have given themselves up in the state this year has now reached 250.

The IG emphasized their objective to help these individuals leave behind violence and start anew. “We’re ready to assist anyone from any state who wants to surrender. Employment opportunities and rehabilitation support will be provided,” stated Chandrashekhar Reddy.

The surrender on Thursday followed a recent incident where 22 Maoists had surrendered to police in the Mulugu district.

On April 11, the extremists laid down their arms before Mulugu district Superintendent of Police Dr. P. Shabarish.

Among those who surrendered were four Area Committee Members (ACMs) and one party member, while the rest were militia members.

The SP had previously announced that the ACMs would receive Rs 4 lakh each for rehabilitation. The party member would receive Rs 1 lakh, and the remaining individuals would each be given Rs 25,000.

He also urged key Maoist leaders to surrender and integrate into the national mainstream, asserting that the ideology of left-wing extremism has lost its significance and that they cannot achieve anything productive by remaining in the jungles.

Earlier this month, 86 Maoists had surrendered to the police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Out of those, 82 were from the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and four were from the Mulugu district.

According to police reports, these individuals were operating in the Bijapur forests of the neighboring Chhattisgarh.

In March, a total of 64 Maoists had also surrendered to the police in Bhadradri-Kothagudem.
