Patna, Feb 6 (NationPress) A special MP-MLA Court located in Patna has denied the bail application of former legislator Anant Singh concerning the Mokama shooting incident.
His legal representatives are set to appeal this ruling in a higher court.
The case revolves around a shooting event in Mokama, where Singh faces multiple charges, including hindering governmental operations and misconduct with law enforcement officials.
Following the court's decision, Singh's supporters have shown their disappointment.
Previously, the court had reserved its judgment after listening to the case on Wednesday.
On January 22, a violent clash unfolded in Nauranga Jalalpur village under the Panchmahala police station in Mokama, Bihar, involving former MLA Singh and members of the Sonu-Monu gang.
This incident arose from a quarrel regarding the alleged unlawful occupation of a house by the gang.
Singh asserted that he went to the village to provide aid to the affected locals, but the situation intensified into a shootout, with around 200 rounds exchanged between both parties.
Fortunately, Singh emerged unscathed, although one of his supporters suffered a bullet wound to his neck.
Two First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged against Singh. Patna Police initiated an FIR under the Arms Act, while the second was filed based on a complaint from Urmila Devi, the mother of Sonu and Monu Singh.
In response, Singh turned himself in at the Barh sub-divisional court on January 24, 2025, and was subsequently placed in Beur Central Jail in Patna.
Additionally, Sonu Singh was apprehended by the police, while Monu Singh remains at large.
The relationship between Singh and the Sonu-Monu gang has significantly deteriorated, resulting in this violent clash.
The atmosphere remains tense, with police actively working to capture the remaining suspects and avert further escalation.
Numerous suspects from the Sonu-Monu gang are still on the run, and Patna Police may initiate the process of property attachment if they fail to surrender.
