Bengaluru, Feb 6 (NationPress) In response to the actions of certain senior leaders conspiring against Karnataka BJP President, B.Y. Vijayendra, former Chief Minister and BJP MP, Basavaraj Bommai, has labeled the situation as regrettable.

In an official statement released on Thursday, Bommai remarked, "I have strong faith that the central leadership will promptly address the situation within Karnataka's BJP, engage in discussions with all prominent leaders, and reach a suitable conclusion."

He added, “The Congress government in our state is experiencing severe mismanagement, failing to deliver on various fronts. Everyday citizens, farmers, and women are facing significant challenges, as incidents of violence and suicides continue to rise. At a moment when the BJP should be uniting against these issues, the internal discord and factional disputes within the party are truly disheartening.”

Bommai emphasized that the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is delivering effective governance across the nation.

"The resolutions made by the party’s leadership are conclusive, and I do not endorse factionalism. Thus, the notion of me convening any factional meetings is not applicable,” he clarified.

“I am amongst the numerous leaders striving earnestly to unite everyone. Both factions should practice patience and, under the mentorship of senior Karnataka BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, along with other senior figures, we must convene and address this matter through dialogue. If that fails, we must respect the decisions made by our leadership," Bommai asserted.

This statement follows the emergence of a rebel faction, which has aggressively advocated for the replacement of State President B.Y. Vijayendra, only to encounter a setback as the party’s top leadership declined to address their grievances against him, according to sources.

Moreover, the higher-ups have admonished former minister and BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi for disseminating false statements to the media, asserting that their faction had met with BJP National President J.P. Nadda.

The senior leadership has shown anger towards the rebel faction for damaging the party's reputation.

Given this context, the rebels, who were optimistic about persuading the top leadership to replace Vijayendra, have faced a significant blow and are returning from New Delhi without any success, sources confirmed.

The rebel leaders had consulted with Bommai in New Delhi, and sources indicate they also pressured him to guide their efforts to oust Vijayendra as state chief.
