Patna, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar regarding the escalating crime rates in the state on Thursday.

Tejashwi Yadav posted a video from Saharsa showing armed assailants robbing a petrol pump employee.

In his social media post, he remarked: "Armed criminals have looted a petrol station in Saharsa. The weak and ineffective Chief Minister has emboldened these criminals. Due to the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, incidents of heinous crimes, such as rape, murder, robbery, kidnapping, and theft, have become alarmingly common. The ministers and the Chief Minister merely stand by as spectators. It is retired officials and criminals who seem to be in charge of the NDA government."

Furthermore, the RJD, on its official X account, highlighted the recent incident in Muzaffarpur, where a 35-year-old man died in police custody.

“The level of police brutality is on the rise under the BJP-Nitish government. They reported that a young man detained in Kanti, Muzaffarpur, on suspicion of bike theft, died under questionable circumstances, allegedly due to police mistreatment. Nitish Kumar's police have surpassed all bounds of disgrace and haughtiness,” the party added.

The deceased, Shivam Kumar Jha (35), from Kalwari village, was taken into custody by the Kanti police station on the evening of February 4, 2025. Tragically, he was discovered dead in the police lock-up the following morning, with authorities attributing the cause to suicide.

The situation intensified as numerous residents from Kalwari and surrounding areas congregated at the police station, leading to vandalism of the property.

RJD also tweeted about the worsening law and order scenario, emphasizing incidents where shopkeepers and women faced brutal assaults in Patna, with their shops being damaged and vehicles targeted.

“Similar to Nitish Kumar, Bihar Police is also in a 'Dhritarashtra mode'; hence, criminal cases are now seen as routine occurrences in Bihar,” the party remarked.
