Guwahati, April 24 (NationPress) AIUDF MLA from Assam's Dhing Assembly constituency, Aminul Islam, was taken into custody on Thursday due to sedition charges stemming from his inflammatory comments about the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of over 20 lives.
In a video shared across social media platforms, Islam alleges that the attacks in Pahalgam and Pulwama are part of a larger conspiracy potentially involving the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
He stated: "Six years ago during the Pulwama RDX explosion that claimed 42 soldiers' lives, I asserted that it was orchestrated by a conspiracy from the central government, aimed at influencing the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
"The recent events in Pahalgam, where gunfire erupted, have been portrayed by the BJP as the terrorists targeting only Hindus while sparing Muslims. However, witnesses claimed that the attackers did not inquire about anyone's religion before opening fire. I suspect that the same nexus behind the Pulwama tragedy, which involved RDX, is responsible for the Pahalgam incident.
"If the Modi-led government does not carry out a transparent investigation into this incident and attempts to foster division between Hindus and Muslims, I would conclude that this attack was the result of a conspiracy," Islam remarked, implicating PM Modi and HM Amit Shah.
In response to Aminul Islam's detention, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated: "Any form of support for Pakistan, whether direct or indirect, will not be tolerated from Assam. I have instructed the Assam Police to take stringent and immediate action against any attempts to support Pakistan, whether through social media or other platforms, and the police will take proactive measures."
Previously, in April 2020, Islam faced arrest on similar charges of sedition and inciting communal discord.
This earlier arrest was prompted by a leaked audio in which Islam purportedly claimed that quarantine facilities in Assam were "inferior to detention centers" and implied that the government was conspiring against Muslims under the pretense of Covid-19 measures.
