Bhopal, Feb 4 (NationPress) As the world commemorates World Cancer Day on Tuesday to promote awareness about the disease, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) has emerged as a transformative solution for individuals in Madhya Pradesh, with many expressing appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its implementation.
Initiated by the Prime Minister on September 23, 2018, this program has become a crucial support system for numerous families, offering complimentary treatment for severe health conditions, including cancer, at both public and private healthcare facilities.
By alleviating the financial strain of medical expenses, PM-JAY guarantees that even the most economically challenged individuals can obtain essential medical assistance.
Residents of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, have praised the initiative, referring to it as a "cure-all" for the underprivileged. Cancer patients from various parts of the state are availing themselves of free treatment at the esteemed Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital in Bhopal through this program.
Raghuvar Yadav, a local from Sehore, expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for the initiative, highlighting its significant benefits for low-income families.
"I have traveled to Bhopal for my son-in-law Dharmendra Yadav's treatment. He has been diagnosed with cancer, and all his treatment is being provided free of charge under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. I am thankful to PM Modi for this; there is no one comparable to him," he told IANS.
Dharmendra Yadav also voiced his appreciation for the government for launching this scheme.
Bal Raghuvanshi, who brought his mother from Shivpuri for medical treatment, shared his story.
In a conversation with IANS, he stated, "The doctor informed us that my mother has cancer, and she is receiving treatment under the Ayushman Yojana. We never anticipated that such a public welfare initiative would offer complimentary treatment for the less fortunate. Previously, if someone in our family fell ill, we would deplete all our savings. This is a remarkable program, and I am grateful to PM Modi and the government."
Bubly, a cancer patient, commended the initiative, sharing with IANS, "We are financially constrained, and I was diagnosed with cancer. Without this scheme, affording treatment would have been impossible. It is solely due to Ayushman Bharat that individuals like us can access medical care. Since PM Modi took office, everything has improved."
Anil Lunare, who traveled from Betul for treatment, mentioned, "I have cancer, and my treatment began promptly under the Ayushman Yojana. All my medications, including chemotherapy, are covered by this scheme. I am thankful to the Prime Minister for this."
Atiq, another patient, expressed relief at receiving free medical care, stating, "I am afflicted with tongue cancer and am receiving treatment under the Ayushman Yojana. I haven't had to spend a single rupee. This scheme is a boon for people like us who are struggling financially."
Dr. Vijay Bhargava, a cancer specialist at Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital, informed IANS that around 10,000 cancer patients are registered at the hospital annually, with nearly 8,000 receiving treatment through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
"Patients from neighboring states also come here and receive treatment under this scheme," he added.
As this initiative continues to profoundly impact the lives of cancer patients, it reaffirms the government's dedication to providing accessible and affordable healthcare for everyone.
