New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) As the momentum for Opposition unity builds ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday conveyed significant optimism regarding an impending political transformation in the state, asserting that voters are ready for a change this time. His comments followed a pivotal meeting with RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, during which both parties reportedly deliberated on seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming elections later this year.
Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kharge stated, "This time, change is certain in Bihar. Today, we met with the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Tejashwi Yadav, to discuss bolstering the Grand Alliance. In the upcoming elections, we aim to provide the people of Bihar with a robust, positive, fair, and welfare-driven alternative. Bihar will break free from the BJP and its opportunistic coalition. Youth, farmers, laborers, women, and various other societal segments are eager for a Grand Alliance government."
The meeting, conducted in Delhi with the presence of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, concentrated on strategies, seat-sharing, and presenting a unified front in Bihar under the banner of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
Tejashwi Yadav, while speaking to journalists post-meeting, mirrored the Congress president's sentiment and confirmed ongoing cooperation among alliance partners.
"Today’s meeting was highly constructive. On April 17, Congress and RJD will engage in another discussion with additional parties in Patna," Tejashwi revealed.
"We don't disclose strategies to the media, but one thing is clear: we are dedicated to advancing Bihar. For 11 years, Narendra Modi has served as Prime Minister. During this duration, Bihar has faced injustices. Over the past 20 years of governance, Bihar has remained the poorest state, with the lowest per capita income, and migration has surged. Everyone knows we have consistently taken responsibility for highlighting public issues."
When questioned about whether he would be positioned as the chief ministerial candidate for the alliance, Tejashwi replied, "Why are you so concerned about it? That’s our decision to make. Ultimately, the people are the true rulers. An INDIA alliance government will be established."
