Bokaro, April 30 (NationPress) Tension gripped Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Wednesday after a 25-year-old man was discovered brutally murdered in a wooded area near Pichhri village, officials reported. The shocking incident ignited widespread outrage, prompting locals to obstruct the Jainamore-Fusro National Highway for several hours in pursuit of swift justice.

Vipul Mishra, a resident of Mishra Tola in Pichhri and son of Gulchand Kumar Mishra, had left his residence around 7 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving a call from a friend.

His family grew concerned when he failed to return home late that night, initiating a search for him. Around 11 p.m., villagers discovered his body in the Biroh Tand forest and promptly alerted the authorities.

Examinations of Mishra’s body revealed multiple injury marks, suggesting he had been attacked with a sharp weapon.

A forensic team later uncovered liquor bottles and other items from the site, indicating the presence of others before the murder.

This brutal killing sent shockwaves throughout the village. Early Wednesday morning, Mishra’s family and local residents took to the streets in protest, accusing the police of inaction and highlighting the escalating lawlessness in the area.

They blocked the Jainamore-Fusro NH, demanding a visit from the Superintendent of Police to ensure strict action against those responsible.

Protesters asserted that this was not an isolated incident in Pichhri, citing several unsolved murders in recent years that have diminished public confidence in law enforcement.

Raju Munda, the police station in-charge at Petarwar, confirmed that a man named Raj Saav, a resident of the same village, has been detained based on initial suspicions.

Police are also on the lookout for three of Mishra’s friends, identified by the family as potential suspects.

A dog squad has been deployed to aid in the investigation.

Mishra’s remains have been sent to the Tenughat sub-divisional hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The highway blockade persisted until approximately 1:30 p.m., leading to long lines of vehicles on either side and disrupting traffic flow in the region. A heavy police presence was observed at the protest site to avert any further escalations.

The police have pledged to conduct a thorough investigation and stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved.
