New Delhi, April 24 (NationPress) The Delhi Congress is set to conduct a candlelight vigil on April 25, commencing from the All India Congress Committee office, to honor the lives lost in the terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
Devender Yadav, President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, announced that the vigil will begin at 6 p.m., starting from 24 Akbar Road and proceeding to 30 January Lane.
Earlier today, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) adopted a resolution highlighting the necessity to examine the intelligence failures and security shortcomings that facilitated the attack.
“Pahalgam is recognized as a highly secure zone, protected by a three-tier security system. A thorough investigation is essential to understand the intelligence failures and security breaches that allowed such an attack in a Union Territory, which falls directly under the Union Home Ministry’s jurisdiction,” the resolution stated.
The CWC also pointed out that the terrorists specifically targeted Hindus to provoke unrest nationwide.
“The intentional targeting of Hindus was executed to ignite tensions throughout the country. We call for calm in light of this serious provocation and reaffirm our united strength in challenging times,” the CWC resolution expressed.
The CWC accused Pakistan of orchestrating the attack, stating, “This cowardly and premeditated act of terror, orchestrated by Pakistan, represents a direct assault on the values upheld by our Republic. The CWC urges calm and reaffirms the Indian National Congress's enduring commitment to fighting cross-border terrorism with determination and solidarity.”
Earlier in the day, the Anti-Terror Action Forum, a voluntary organization, staged a protest outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
The protest, marked by chants against Pakistan, commenced with a moment of silence.
