Patna March 17 (NationPress) Violence erupted between two factions during a 'Matka Fod' (pot-breaking) celebration in the Naya Tola area under the Town police station in Jehanabad district, Bihar, on Sunday evening, according to police reports.

In total, six individuals, including two police officers, were injured in the fracas.

One faction initiated the conflict by breaking the Matka with a baton, sparking a heated dispute.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rajeev Kumar Singh validated the occurrence.

The argument quickly intensified into a violent confrontation accompanied by stone pelting.

"Approximately six individuals, including two police personnel, sustained injuries during this confrontation," SDPO Singh informed IANS.

"The altercation began over breaking the Matka with a baton, leading to a fierce argument between the groups, which escalated into stone pelting at around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday," the police officer stated.

Although police were present at the scene, they initially found it challenging to manage the situation. However, they swiftly intervened and employed a mild cane charge to disperse the crowd.

"We have rescued the injured and transported them to Sadar Hospital for medical attention. An investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify those involved," SDPO Singh added.

In the aftermath, a significant presence of police and Bihar Military Police was established in the region to avert any further conflicts.

"The situation is under control, and additional forces have been deployed to prevent escalation," he remarked.

Authorities are striving to restore peace in the locality while ensuring stringent measures against those accountable for the violence.

A similar incident occurred earlier in Bihar's Siwan district on the same day, where a clash erupted between two groups in Izmali village, under the Badharia police station, resulting in one injury.

This incident was triggered when a group from Gopalganj was riding bikes to gather donations for constructing a temple in Badarjimi village, Gopalganj.

Upon reaching a mosque in Izmali village within the Badharia police jurisdiction in adjacent Siwan district, they were assaulted by assailants positioned nearby, igniting a fight.
