New Delhi, March 16 (NationPress) The Delhi government is striving to prevent water-logging in the city during the upcoming monsoon season, as stated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday following a joint inspection with Lt. Governor V.K. Saxena of major drains in south Delhi that flow into the Yamuna.

After evaluating the New Delhi Municipal Council drain near Dayal Singh College, CM Gupta remarked: “We are closely examining the outfall of drains and engaging directly with the situation, as these matters cannot be resolved from air-conditioned rooms or through press conferences.”

“Today, the L-G, PWD Minister, and officials are on-site for inspection because we all aim to ensure that there is no waterlogging in the upcoming months,” she emphasized, noting that everyone is focused on the goal of “public welfare.”

L-G Saxena stated: "With the directives issued by CM Gupta to all departments, I am optimistic that progress will be swift and that residents of Delhi will not encounter any waterlogging issues during the next monsoon.”

When asked about the noticeable shift in the operational style of the BJP government compared to the previous AAP regime, the L-G remarked: "This is a very positive government, and we are collaborating effectively. We are dedicated to ensuring that the best services are delivered to the public."

The CM and the L-G evaluated the Barapullah drain, the Sunehripullah drain, and the Dayal Singh College-Kushak drain.

L-G Saxena recalled that the CM had declared shortly after assuming office that there would be no waterlogging in the forthcoming monsoon.

“Today, we opted to inspect the drains to identify the issues and blockages that prevent rainwater from smoothly flowing into the Yamuna,” he explained.

The Chief Minister also pointed out the chaotic nature of the city's development.

“Any city’s development plan should be designed to meet its requirements for the next 100 years,” she asserted.
