New Delhi, Feb 23 (NationPress) On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah prior to leading a meeting of the BJP's legislative party, just before the inaugural session of the new Assembly. This session is anticipated to feature the presentation of an important CAG report on its opening day.

Significantly, this upcoming session will mark a historic first where both the Leader of the House and the Leader of Opposition will be women. Additionally, for the first time in 27 years, BJP MLAs will occupy the treasury benches, while the AAP will take the Opposition benches for the first time in 11 years.

During her discussion with HM Shah, the Chief Minister outlined the initiatives undertaken by the new government in its initial days, focusing on fulfilling electoral commitments such as the cleaning of the Yamuna River, the rollout of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), and the repair of damaged roads, as noted by a party official.

She also requested advice from HM Shah regarding the 100-day action plan that the BJP government is developing to ensure the delivery of 'Modi ki Guarantees'.

Furthermore, CM Gupta apprised him of directives issued to officials for drafting guidelines aimed at enrolling beneficiaries for the Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance scheme for women.

The framework for this scheme is expected to be reviewed in the session, as CM Gupta aims to launch it before March 8, as directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister convened the BJP legislative party meeting to strategize on addressing the AAP's concerns regarding the CAG report related to the liquor policy scandal, which allegedly indicates a Rs 2,026 crore financial loss.

"The goal is to present the CAG report during the first sitting to unveil corruption and counter the opposition from AAP," stated an aide to CM Gupta.

The inaugural day of the session is also expected to see the election of a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker, alongside the swearing-in of legislators, followed by the introduction of the CAG report concerning the now-repealed liquor policy.

On Saturday, Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena appointed Gandhi Nagar legislator Arvinder Singh Lovely as the pro-tem Speaker of the Delhi Assembly to oversee the proceedings during the first sitting of the new 70-member House.

The Assembly sessions are projected to occur on February 24, 25, and 26.

Previously, AAP MLA from Kalkaji and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was designated as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly during a legislative party meeting.

Atishi, who held the CM position for 152 days, reiterated AAP's resolve to ensure that the new government is held accountable, particularly regarding its commitments to women.
