Mishra, who lived with his wife, son, and daughter in Hyderabad, had his origins in Jhalda, where he attended school. His parents continue to reside at their ancestral home in Jhalda.

The strike commenced at 6 a.m. and was organized by two groups: Jhalda Nagarik Manch (Jhalda Citizens' Forum) and Jhalda Cricket Association.

The residents of Jhalda are observing the strike peacefully and spontaneously in memory of Mishra.

Since morning, shops and other commercial establishments have remained closed.

The remains of the deceased IB officer were initially taken to the airport in Ranchi, after which his wife will accompany the remains to Jhalda.

Expected to attend Mishra's cremation is Sukanta Majumdar, the BJP state president in West Bengal and Union Minister of State.

Mishra was stationed in Ranchi and had recently received a transfer to Hyderabad.

He had traveled to Pahalgam with his family and planned to visit Vaishno Devi, as informed by other family members from Jhalda. He left Hyderabad on April 15 for a vacation with his family.

Schoolmates from Jhalda remembered Mishra as a well-liked individual among his teachers and friends due to his cricketing abilities and calm demeanor.
