Kochi, April 30 (NationPress) Kerala, a state renowned for its thriving tourism sector, is preparing to host the ‘Wedding and MICE Conclave’ this August.
The three-day event kicks off on August 14, organized by the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) Society in collaboration with the state government.
This conclave aims to leverage the vast potential of weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) as pivotal components of the state's tourism strategy.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has emphasized Kerala's capability to position itself as a leading destination for wedding and honeymoon tourism.
Tourism and PWD Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas stated that the event will unite professionals from diverse sectors, including wedding planning, corporate events, large convention centers, and tour operations.
“This collaboration will promote Kerala as a premier destination in the MICE and wedding tourism sectors,” remarked Riyas, who is also the Chief Minister’s son-in-law.
Participants attending the conclave will have the opportunity to explore key MICE and wedding venues throughout Kerala, such as Kochi, Munnar, Kumarakom, Kollam, Kovalam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Bekal.
Kerala Tourism is also orchestrating a specific promotional campaign that will showcase the state's stunning beaches, historical architecture, and backwater resorts.
KTM Society President Jose Pradeep stated that the conclave will spotlight Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, including classical and folk art forms, along with its regional cuisine.
“B2B meetings will provide a vital platform for tour operators, wedding planners, and hospitality professionals to connect directly. The event will also feature performances like Kathakali and Carnatic music, complemented by a selection of Kerala’s traditional dishes,” Pradeep added.
Although Kerala is already celebrated for its time-honored offerings like ayurveda and houseboats, the state tourism department is expanding its portfolio. While wedding and MICE tourism have been present in smaller capacities, this conclave marks the first significant effort to promote it on a larger scale.
