Kolkata, March 5 (NationPress) On Tuesday, law enforcement officials apprehended two relatives connected to a family tragedy where three individuals were discovered hanging in their home located in the Haltu area under the Kasba Police station in south Kolkata.
The arrested individuals, Pradip Kumar Ghosal and his spouse Nilima Ghosal, are related to Somnath Roy, one of the deceased.
The other victims include Somnath's wife, Sumitra Roy, and their two-and-a-half-year-old son, Rudranil Roy. The Ghosal couple faces accusations of conspiracy and abetting suicide.
According to sources within the police, the initial complaint was filed by Somnath's father-in-law and sister-in-law against the Ghosal family, alleging they instigated the Roy couple's suicide after hanging their child.
Subsequent inquiries with neighbors supported the claims made in the police report, leading to the couple's arrest.
Moreover, officials indicated that evidence from a suicide note found near the victims implicated the Ghosals, who were accused of pressuring Somnath and Sumitra over property matters.
The post-mortem results are pending, which will clarify the exact circumstances of the deaths. Early investigations suggest the couple took their own lives after hanging their son.
“The Ghosal couple are the primary conspirators in this tragic situation. We demand justice for the victims,” expressed Bishwanath Bhowmik, Somnath's father-in-law.
