Ayodhya, Feb 22 (NationPress) Approximately 60 crore pilgrims have visited Prayagraj to perform the sacred dip at Triveni Sangam, with more than 1.1 crore pilgrims participating on Saturday.

A senior official indicated that by Maha Shivratri Snan on February 26, around 65 crore pilgrims are expected to partake in the holy dip, making this the largest Kumbh Mela in the history of the country.

The Kumbh Mela commenced on January 13 and will run until February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri.

According to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government, over 50 lakh individuals from Nepal, the birthplace of Maa Janaki (Goddess Sita), have already bathed in the Triveni Sangam.

On Mauni Amavasya, the highest attendance was recorded with nearly 8 crore devotees participating in the holy dip, and on Makar Sankranti, around 3.5 crore devotees took part in the Amrit Snan.

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Maha Kumbh along with Union Minister J. P. Nadda, both leaders taking a dip at the holy Sangam.

The participation of these two notable figures in the Triveni Sangam attracted significant attention from the devotees present at the Maha Kumbh.

The ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is being celebrated after 144 years and stands as one of the largest and most vital religious events in Hinduism.

According to the Maha Kumbh Mela administration, the total number of devotees who have bathed at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh has exceeded 600 million. By noon on Saturday, over 71.18 lakh devotees had already taken the sacred dip in the holy Triveni. The final dip of the Maha Kumbh is set for Maha Shivaratri, February 26.

Analyzing the total attendees, the most significant number—nearly 80 million—bathed during Mauni Amavasya. On Makar Sankranti, 35 million devotees participated in the Amrit Snan.

On February 1 and January 30, over 20 million each took the dip, while 17 million devotees bathed on Paush Purnima. Additionally, 25.7 million devotees participated on Basant Panchami, and over 20 million bathed during Maghi Purnima.
