New Delhi, April 19 (NationPress) In the wake of the violent clashes in Murshidabad, West Bengal, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals, BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty has urged for the prompt implementation of President’s Rule in the state. He issued a grave warning, asserting that if Mamata Banerjee secures victory in the forthcoming elections, it could lead to yet another massacre.

During an interview with IANS, Chakraborty remarked, “We need to impose President’s Rule immediately. I've made this request several times, and I’m reiterating it now through you, to the Home Minister.

“At a minimum, there should be military presence for two months during the election phase. Only in this way can we ensure fair elections. Whoever wins, wins. But from the moment the Election Commission announces the election dates until one month after the results are declared, the Army should be deployed.

“If the current ruling party wins again, it will result in another massacre. History will repeat itself. That’s why I’m making this appeal.”

This appeal follows the April 11 violence in Dhulian, Murshidabad, where protests over the Waqf (Amendment) Act turned fatal, claiming three lives and injuring many others, escalating a tense political confrontation between state and central authorities.

The Governor of West Bengal, C.V. Ananda Bose, visited the affected areas of Murshidabad on Friday to evaluate the situation.

In response, Chakraborty stated, “He should have visited sooner. His visit was delayed, and they prevented him from going. These people don’t require money; they need the emotional assurance of knowing someone stands by them. We intended to visit too, but we were not allowed. People are being assaulted while remaining powerless; it's truly heartbreaking.”

When asked whether Muslims have been given a free rein under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s administration, Chakraborty contended, “If Madam (Mamata Banerjee) truly desires, she could halt all this within a day. Yet, she hasn’t taken stringent action against anyone. The situation has deteriorated to the point that now, Sanatani Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs will no longer support this party.

“Their traditional voter base is shifting, so to appease their core supporters, they permit these incidents to occur. Even if lives are lost, it appears inconsequential to them.”
