Bhopal, April 15 (NationPress) A national workshop spanning two days dedicated to critical topics such as forest restoration, climate change, and community-based livelihoods in the tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to take place in Bhopal beginning April 18, as confirmed by an official on Tuesday.

The event will be hosted at the Noronha Administrative Academy and is expected to see attendance from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as well as Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav.

A senior official from the Forest Department mentioned to IANS that Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav will assess the advancement of various development initiatives related to forests and the Centre’s efforts for the tribal population.

Moreover, he will provide essential guidance to the state government during the workshop.

An audio-visual presentation highlighting tribal communities and their role in nature conservation will also be featured during the event.

Madhya Pradesh’s Minister for Tribal Affairs Kunwar Vijay Shah and other prominent ministers will participate in the workshop.

“Forests are vital in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. This workshop is a significant stride toward sustainable and fair development that revolves around forests, biodiversity, natural resources, and the livelihoods of tribal communities,” the official elaborated.

During the national workshop, various sessions will delve into thorough discussions on issues such as the existing legal frameworks for forest conservation, their challenges and potential solutions, the Biodiversity Amendment Act 2023, community forest rights, the documentation of traditional knowledge, and forest restoration.

Professor Ramesh from Bengaluru will present a special expert lecture.

Additionally, speakers like Dr. Yogesh Gokhale and Dr. Rajendra Dhatonde will contribute to various sessions. Governor Mangubhai Patel will serve as the Chief Guest for the workshop’s concluding session, while former Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Harsh Chauhan will provide the final address.

The workshop will also showcase documentary films centered on afforestation, climate sensitivity, and the inclusion of forest-dwelling communities.
