New Delhi, March 15 (NationPress) The Mumbai police have successfully taken down a high-profile sex trafficking operation based out of a hotel in the Hiranandani area. They apprehended 60-year-old Shyamsunder Arora and liberated four models associated with the film industry from the hotel.
The rescued individuals are now placed in a shelter home for necessary support and care.
Reports indicate that authorities were alerted to a sex racket functioning from a hotel in Hiranandani, Powai. Consequently, the police contacted the 60-year-old suspect, Shyamsunder, using a fictitious customer persona.
Shyamsunder quoted prices ranging from Rs 70,000 to Rs 1 lakh per model, with the women reportedly aged between 26 and 35 years.
In their undercover operation, the police posed as a customer seeking models. Shyamsunder sent images of four women, asserting they were from the film industry, and promised to deliver all four to the hotel.
The police set up a sting operation outside the hotel, and as Shyamsunder arrived with the women, the fake customer alerted the authorities. They swiftly executed a raid on the hotel, rescuing the four women and apprehending Shyamsunder.
During the operation, law enforcement confiscated eight mobile phones and Rs 3 lakh in cash from the hotel premises.
Upon questioning, Shyamsunder disclosed that another suspect living in the Charkop area was also implicated in the racket. The police are actively pursuing this additional individual.
The Powai Police have filed charges against Shyamsunder Arora under Section 143(2) of the Bombay Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 (ITPA), leading to his arrest.
