Patna, March 15 (NationPress) A violent confrontation over property rights erupted in the East Champaran district on Friday night, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving three others critically wounded.

The altercation occurred in Bakhri Panchayat, falling under the Kalyanpur police station's jurisdiction during a feast organized by village head (Mukhiya) Jagarnath Rai in celebration of Holi.

As per police reports, a longstanding property disagreement between two factions escalated into a knife fight. Authorities responded swiftly to the scene, providing aid to the injured and initiating an investigation.

“We have secured the body and transported it to Sadar Hospital, Motihari, for a post-mortem examination. So far, thirteen individuals, including Mukhiya Jagarnath Rai, have been detained in connection with this incident,” stated Jitendra Kumar, the SHO of Kalyanpur police station.

The victim has been identified as Rohit Kumar, who succumbed to multiple stab wounds. The injured parties are currently receiving treatment at a local medical facility. Efforts are underway to ensure peace is restored in the village.

In a different incident that occurred the same night in Munger district, a young man was shot dead while another sustained injuries due to a dispute over Holi songs.

This incident took place in Shankarpur Milki village, under the Mufassil police station's area. The deceased, recognized as Bhola Kumar, died instantly from the gunfire, whereas his companion, Golu Kumar, suffered significant injuries.

According to police, the conflict started when a group led by Mantu Yadav, Fuko Yadav, Anil Yadav, and Prashant Yadav objected to Bhola and Golu playing Holi songs near their property. When they refused to comply, the situation intensified, resulting in the shooting.

Golu Kumar, who was shot in the waist, received initial treatment at Munger Sadar Hospital before being referred to a higher-level medical facility. The police are actively probing the incident and are on the lookout for the assailants.

Munger MLA Pranab Kumar Yadav visited the hospital to assure the victims' families of stringent action and urged local authorities to reinstate calm in the region.
