Chennai, Feb 5 (NationPress) Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay has instructed the leaders of his recently established political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), to complete the selection of office bearers, with the goal of enhancing the party's grassroots framework.
In order to build a strong organizational setup, Vijay has asked the party's district secretaries to provide a thorough list of functionaries across all 95 districts.
A senior TVK official noted that the cutoff for this submission is set for the end of February 2025. This list will encompass crucial roles at various levels, including town secretaries, union secretaries, block-level functionaries, and ward-level leaders.
To promote transparency and accessibility, district functionaries are mandated to upload the list of office bearers onto the party's official site.
A senior TVK representative told IANS, "The district secretaries have been given the responsibility of gathering and uploading the list of functionaries in their areas. This will allow the leadership to oversee the organizational structure and make informed choices."
Vijay has urged district secretaries to prioritize the immediate finalization of district-level office bearers, while grassroots-level roles must be confirmed and uploaded by the end of this month.
The Tamil superstar founded Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in February 2024. Instead of participating in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party decided to concentrate on the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
On October 27, 2024, Vijay conducted a remarkably successful public rally at Vikkaravandi in Villupuram district, attracting a staggering audience of over 300,000 individuals.
He is the first Tamil film star to make such a significant political entry since the late M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), the iconic actor-turned-Chief Minister and founder of the AIADMK. It is important to note that Rajinikanth had also announced his plans to enter politics, intending to run for the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
However, due to health issues, he subsequently withdrew from the contest. With Vijay's rising influence, the political landscape of Tamil Nadu is poised for substantial transformation in the years ahead.
