The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Mantralaya.

According to the agreement, three centers of excellence focused on AI skills will be established in the state. These include one dedicated to geographic analysis in Mumbai, another for forensic science infrastructure in Pune, and a third for advanced AI research and MARVEL implementation technology in Nagpur.

The collaboration is designed to enhance the efficiency and speed of public service delivery, ensuring it is more citizen-focused by leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as AI, hybrid cloud, data analytics, cybersecurity, and automation, as noted in the government’s announcement.

This initiative aims to make government services more accessible and individualized through the use of virtual assistants and agentic AI.

The ownership of the AI models will reside with the Maharashtra government, granting it full authority over the technology.

The plan includes modernizing the administrative processes, making them more predictable and transparent through the use of generative AI, with a focus on hybrid cloud, identity management, and secure citizen access systems.

Training in AI, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies will be provided to government employees and students using IBM's training platform.

Moreover, MSMEs and the industrial sector will be motivated to embrace AI and automation, which is expected to boost productivity and competitiveness.
