Kuala Lumpur, Jan 21 (NationPress) The reigning champions India showcased their supremacy in the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup by decisively defeating the home team Malaysia by 10 wickets, marking their second consecutive win in Group A on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, India chose to bowl first, taking advantage of the cloudy conditions. Led by a phenomenal bowling performance from Vaishnavi Sharma, India restricted the hosts to a mere 31 runs in 14.3 overs. Vaishnavi's exceptional performance included a hat-trick, earning her the Player of the Match title.

In response, openers G Trisha (27 not out) and Kamalini G (four not out) efficiently chased down the target in just over three overs, remaining unbeaten.

Bowling first, seamer Joshitha VJ supported her captain's decision by dismissing Malaysia's opener Nuni leg before for a duck. A run out off a no-ball cut short Nur Aliya's innings before Aayushi Shukla struck twice in the fifth over, leaving Malaysia at four down with less than 15 runs on the board.

Vaishnavi continued to dominate with her left-arm spin, taking out captain Nur Dania Syuhada (1) caught and bowling Nuriman (2) in her first seven deliveries. She further troubled the hosts, achieving a hat-trick in her final over, concluding with impressive figures of 5-5. Malaysia was bowled out for just 31 runs.

Last week, the defending champions India commenced their title defense with a resounding nine-wicket victory over the West Indies.

Brief scores: Malaysia 31/10 in 14.3 overs (Nur Aliya Hairun 5; Vaishnavi Sharma 5-5) lost to India 32/0 in 2.5 overs (Gongadi Trisha 27, G Kamalini 4) by 10 wickets.
