Hyderabad, Feb 5 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has declared a financial reward of Rs 1 crore for Gongadi Trisha in recognition of her remarkable performance at the recently held U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Indian women's team successfully defended their title with an outstanding nine-wicket victory against first-time finalists South Africa and made history as the first team to secure the championship without a single loss.
On Wednesday, Trisha visited the Chief Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, where Reddy congratulated her with a shawl and a momento, while also announcing the cash reward.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister revealed that Rs 10 lakhs each would be awarded to Dhruthi Kesari, a teammate, trainer Shalini, and head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer.
Trisha earned the title of 'Player of the Tournament' and set a record for the most runs in a single edition of the tournament with 309 runs in seven matches, averaging 77.25 and including one century. She also took seven wickets across the matches, with a best performance of 3-6.
In the final, she was awarded Player of the Match after claiming 3-15 with her leg spin bowling and scoring 44 not out as India clinched the title with a nine-wicket victory.
The victorious Indian U19 Women's T20 World Cup team returned to India on Tuesday. They were welcomed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport by Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Jagan Mohan Rao Arishnapally, who honored the players and support staff with shawls and bouquets.
