Jammu, Feb 22 (NationPress) Officials announced on Saturday that 1,156 candidates received placement letters during a massive job fair held in Kathua district of J&K.
The event took place on Friday and was organized by the local administration to connect job seekers with industries, featuring prominent businesses and a varied pool of local talent.
With over 1,000 job openings, the job fair offered career opportunities across various sectors. Companies like Godrej, Pidilite, Varun Beverages, Atomic North, Rexa, LIC, and others participated actively in seeking skilled, semi-skilled, and fresh candidates.
The available positions covered a range of industries, including manufacturing, sales, marketing, finance, and technical services, catering to diverse professional interests and skill sets. The proceedings were overseen by Rakesh Manhas, the deputy commissioner of Kathua.
Thanks to various initiatives from the central government, multiple job opportunities, including those in entrepreneurship and self-employment, are now accessible to the youth in J&K, in addition to placements in well-known national companies.
Encouraged by the allocation of land for industrial units and the opening of the tourism and hospitality sector to major national players, significant names in the business and industrial sectors have chosen to invest in Jammu and Kashmir.
The shift in focus by business leaders towards the largely unexplored opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir is attributed to the overall improvement in the security situation in the Union Territory.
This gradual enhancement in security began after August 2019 when Jammu and Kashmir came under direct central governance, allowing security forces to tackle terrorism with strict directives to ensure that no law-abiding citizen faced any inconvenience while combating Pakistan-sponsored terrorists and their supporters.
