Hyderabad, Feb 5 (NationPress) The police in Hyderabad have confiscated drugs valued at Rs.1.60 crore and apprehended three foreign nationals involved in drug trafficking.
The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) executed the arrests during a coordinated operation alongside Langer House and Humayun Nagar police, leading to the seizure of 1,300 grams of MDMA across three distinct cases.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police for Task Force/H-NEW, Y.V.S. Sudheendra, confirmed the detainment of two individuals from Nigeria and one from Guinea.
Among those arrested is Oliver Ugochukwu, who also goes by several aliases including Johnson, John, and Emji. The 44-year-old Nigerian, currently residing in Mumbai, was found with 1,300 grams of MDMA.
Investigations indicated that he arrived in New Delhi in 2009 on a business visa, later forming connections with other Nigerian drug traffickers. Despite his visa and passport expiring, he continued to remain in India and participated in drug trafficking.
Previously, he was apprehended by Lodhi Colony Police Station in Delhi in 2013 for heroin possession, serving a sentence of 5 years and 9 months. After his release in 2019, he relocated to Mumbai, resuming his drug activities and supplying MDMA to other Nigerians in Mumbai and Bengaluru. He sourced drugs in bulk from a Nigerian named Oyibo, based in Delhi, purchasing them for Rs 300 per gram and reselling for Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 per gram.
Oyibo provided him with three packets containing 1,300 grams of MDMA and instructed him to travel to Hyderabad to deliver 100 grams to a buyer. Upon arriving in Hyderabad, Oliver awaited further orders from Oyibo.
The second individual, Moussa Camara, also known as Romeo, hails from Guinea and was arrested for drug trafficking.
According to police reports, he entered India in 2020 on a medical visa, landing at Mumbai International Airport, where he was apprehended for carrying cocaine. After a six-month jail term, he resided with a friend in Nallasopara, Mumbai, where he connected with Nigerian drug suppliers.
Last year, he relocated to Bengaluru, where he began drug trafficking and supplying drugs to Hyderabad.
Acting on credible intelligence, the HNEW team, in conjunction with Humayun Nagar Police, arrested Camara at Paramount Hills in Toli Chowki. He confessed to planning to establish a drug business in Hyderabad following the arrest of his local supplier in October of the previous year. He had come to Hyderabad to seek out customers.
In a separate case, Ikechukwu Sylvester Mbah, also known as Sylvester, a Nigerian residing in Mumbai, was taken into custody.
As per police information, he arrived in India on a business visa in 2012 but was arrested in Mumbai in 2019 under the Passport Act and served two years in prison.
He had recently come to Hyderabad to visit friends and travel with other drug associates. Based on reliable information, he was arrested within the jurisdiction of Humayun Nagar Police Station. The investigation revealed that he had been living in India without a valid visa. The DCP announced that he would be deported to his home country upon the completion of necessary formalities.
