Amaravati, Feb 5 (NationPress) Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy informed party cadres on Wednesday that they will experience a transformed and more robust ‘Jagananna 2.0’.
During a gathering with YSRCP corporators from Vijayawada and key party figures, he emphasized that ‘Jagananna 2.0’ will function differently, with a commitment to safeguarding and supporting every party member.
Supporters and workers of YSRCP affectionately refer to him as Jagananna or elder brother Jagan.
The former chief minister expressed that Jagananna 1.0 fell short in assisting party workers.
He conveyed confidence that YSRCP will regain power in the state, anticipating a governance span of the next 30 years.
Y.S. Jagan claimed that the YSRCP cadre is enduring harassment under the current Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government. He assured the cadre of his vigilant oversight of their challenges and pledged steadfast support.
“While in opposition, facing challenges is unavoidable. However, we must uphold our principles. Difficult times don’t endure forever. I endured unjust imprisonment for 16 months due to political schemes by Congress and TDP. Yet, I never wavered. With the people's trust, I became the Chief Minister, and I assure you -- our party will reclaim power and lead the state for the next 30 years,” he declared.
Pointing out his government’s accomplishments, Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that even amid financial difficulties and the COVID-19 crisis, welfare initiatives continued without pause. “We are the sole government in India that has effectively implemented 99 percent of its manifesto promises,” he asserted.
He criticized the current administration, alleging that in merely nine months, the coalition government has dismantled critical institutions and failed to realize its promised 'Super Six' schemes. “Corruption is rampant, with kickbacks flowing from MLAs to the Chief Minister himself. Citizens will soon demand accountability, driving them to adopt undemocratic governance through the ‘Red Book Constitution’,” he remarked.
Regarding the defection of 13 YSRCP corporators in Vijayawada post-elections, Jagan commended the 38 loyal corporators who resisted TDP’s pressure. He noted that in every local body election since the Assembly polls, YSRCP has achieved a clean sweep, reinforcing the public's ongoing trust in the party.
Critiquing the TDP-led government's inability to fulfill its electoral promises, he stated that they vowed to provide Rs 15,000 for students, Rs 18,000 for mothers, Rs 45,000 for elderly women, and Rs 36,000 for unemployed youth, alongside a promise of Rs 20,000 annually for farmers. Now, people confront them at every doorstep, demanding justifications.
The YSRCP alleged a decline in the state’s education and healthcare sectors. “Under our administration, government schools were elevated to CBSE standards, classrooms digitized, and even private schools began to rival public institutions. Today, all those reforms have been reversed. The 'Amma Vodi' initiative has been eliminated, digital classrooms have disappeared, and enrollment in government schools has markedly decreased,” he lamented.
He also highlighted YSRCP’s groundbreaking healthcare initiatives, including the expansion of Aarogyasri, village clinics, and the Family Doctor system, which delivered quality healthcare to the impoverished. “Currently, government hospitals are in disarray, network hospitals are rejecting Aarogyasri patients, and Rs 3,000 crore in outstanding medical bills has paralyzed the system,” he stated, contrasting his administration with the current governance.
