Bengaluru, Feb 6 (NationPress) In a heartbreaking event, five individuals from a family, including three young children, tragically perished in a road accident in Yadgir district of Karnataka on Wednesday. The incident happened close to Tinthani Arch under the jurisdiction of the Surapura police station.
The victims have been named as 35-year-old Anjaneya, his 28-year-old wife Gangamma, their children—five-year-old Pavithra and three-year-old Rayappa—along with Anjaneya’s one-year-old nephew Hanumantha.
As per police accounts, the accident unfolded while all five were riding on a motorcycle from Surapura to Tinthani. A bus belonging to the Kalyan Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKSRTC) collided with the motorcycle from behind after the bus driver lost control, resulting in this tragic incident.
The force of the collision caused the immediate death of three individuals, including both children, while the remaining two succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The motorcycle was severely damaged due to the impact. At the time of the mishap, the bus was en route from Kalaburagi to Chincholi.
Previously, on January 22, at least 14 people, including three students, lost their lives and 25 others were injured in two separate accidents in Karnataka's Karwar and Raichur districts.
In the first accident, 10 individuals were killed instantly and 15 others were hurt when a truck carrying them and vegetables overturned on National Highway 63 near the Gullapura Ghatta region in Yellapura taluk of Karwar district.
The injured were taken to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Hubballi.
One of the survivors informed the police that he heard a tyre burst sound just before the truck flipped over.
The deceased were from Savanur village in the Haveri district and were vegetable vendors who traveled weekly to the village market. When the truck overturned, the vegetables loaded on it fell on them.
Initial investigations revealed that the driver lost control due to foggy conditions early in the morning, leading to the accident.
In another incident on the same day, four individuals, including three students, died on the spot when the vehicle they were in overturned at Araginamara Camp near Sindhanur town in Raichur district.
