New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) A heated controversy has arisen regarding comments made by AAP MLA and spokesperson Rituraj Jha, who labeled Rohingyas and illegal Bangladeshi migrants as 'relatives' of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

These statements, delivered during a live discussion on a prominent news platform, ignited fury among BJP leaders, who are now demanding an apology from former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP MLA for what they consider to be an affront to the Sikh community.

Jha’s comment, interpreted as a direct assault on Puri, has faced intense backlash from BJP leaders, who are urging for his removal from the party.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a BJP leader, expressed his outrage, stating, "Rituraj Jha's terminology of 'apshad' aimed at Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, coupled with his unfounded claim linking Puri to the Rohingyas, is not merely a slight to him but also to the Sikh community at large. Such offensive remarks reveal the genuine attitude of AAP. It is a disrespect to those who have dedicated their lives to our nation. I urge Arvind Kejriwal to apologize to the Sikh community and remove Rituraj Jha from the party. This statement is intolerable, and the Sikh community demands an apology."

RP Singh, another BJP member, shared similar views, asserting, "This is not just an assault on Minister Puri; it is an affront to the entire Sikh community. Jha’s claim that the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are Puri's relatives is entirely baseless. We demand apologies from Arvind Kejriwal and Rituraj Jha for their mockery of the Sikh community through these unfounded allegations."

The controversy has also gained traction on social media, with BJP’s IT Cell chief Amit Malviya calling for a public apology from the AAP leader on X.

"AAP MLA and spokesperson Rituraj Jha has disrespected Sikhs by associating Rohingyas and illegal Bangladeshi migrants with Hardeep Singh Puri, a proud Sikh. Arvind Kejriwal must promptly apologize to Mr. Puri and the Sikh community for this disgraceful comment."

This incident follows Sanjay Singh from AAP recently accusing the BJP of enabling the 'settlement' of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas across the nation.

Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) reported on Sunday that it had detained 916 individuals, comprising 586 Bangladeshi nationals and 318 Rohingyas, since 2021, underlining the ongoing issues related to illegal immigration.
