Beijing, Jan 20 (NationPress) The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) disclosed emblems for three significant missions in China's manned space program this year. The emblems represent the launches of the crewed spaceships Shenzhou-20 and Shenzhou-21, along with the cargo craft Tianzhou-9, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
The CMSA stated that these new emblems reflect the bravery and commitment of Chinese astronauts in their quest to unravel the universe's secrets. Since China's initial manned spaceflight, Shenzhou-5 in 2003, a dedicated logo has been created for each manned mission.
Since 2023, the CMSA has initiated logo solicitations for the country's space missions and has continued this practice. According to the CMSA, crews assigned to the Shenzhou-20 and Shenzhou-21 missions will each comprise three astronauts.
The Shenzhou-20 mission is scheduled to dock with the radial port of the space station's core module, while Shenzhou-21 will connect with its front port.
The astronauts' primary responsibilities will include extravehicular activities, transferring cargo through the station's cargo airlock module, and performing space science experiments and technology evaluations. In the latter half of 2025, China intends to launch the Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft from the Wenchang Space Launch Site located in southern Hainan Province.
This mission aims to deliver essential supplies for astronauts, propellants for maintaining space station operations, a variety of payloads, and more. China's manned space station initiative has progressed into its application and development phase, with plans for two manned spacecraft missions and one to two cargo missions each year.
Meanwhile, the crew members of Shenzhou-19, currently aboard China's space station, are set to conduct their second extravehicular activities (EVAs) in the coming days, as stated by the CMSA recently.
Following their first spacewalk on December 17, 2024, the crew has completed multiple tasks, including equipment inspections and maintenance of the space station, system-wide pressure emergency drills, and preparations for the second EVAs.
The agency confirmed that the three crew members from Shenzhou-19 are in good health, and the space station is functioning smoothly, creating ideal conditions for the upcoming EVAs.
