Kolkata, Feb 5 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) faced another setback on Wednesday, marking the third unsuccessful attempt to obtain voice samples from Sujay Krishna Bhadra, a significant suspect in the multimillion-rupee cash-for-school job scandal in West Bengal. Bhadra did not appear at a special court in Kolkata due to medical issues.

On January 21, officials from the central agency were unable to collect Bhadra's voice samples as he was absent from court. A subsequent date was set for January 28.

However, the CBI again could not gather the voice samples on that occasion due to his continued absence. February 5 was designated as the third attempt, but the outcome was the same.

On Wednesday, Bhadra's attorney informed the court that his client is suffering from a high fever and is currently receiving treatment at the jail hospital, preventing him from attending court.

Despite having recently been granted bail in the associated school job case handled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is conducting a concurrent investigation, Bhadra remains in custody following his arrest by the CBI in relation to the same case.

Previously, the ED successfully collected Bhadra's voice samples. The trial process for the ED-registered case has commenced this month in a special court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Kolkata.

A total of 53 individuals are implicated, including 29 persons and 24 corporate entities or trusts, as outlined in subsequent chargesheets filed by the ED.
