Patna, Feb 5 (NationPress) Bihar’s Labour Resources Minister, Santosh Singh, on Wednesday vehemently condemned AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi for his statements made in Lok Sabha concerning the Waqf Bill.
Owaisi had cautioned that if the Waqf Bill is enacted in its current structure, it could result in social unrest across the nation.
"I am warning this government. Should the Narendra Modi administration enact a Waqf law in its existing format, violating Articles 25, 26, and 14, it will cause social instability in this country. The entire Muslim community has rejected it. No Waqf property will remain, nothing will be left," Owaisi stated.
In response, Singh accused Owaisi of inciting division, asserting that India is a democracy, not a theocracy.
In a pointed rebuttal, Santosh Singh remarked: “Some nations assert they operate under Sharia law, but India thrives on democracy – a democracy established by Babasaheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.”
He further contended that Ambedkar’s vision of democracy promotes justice and fairness and that any wrongful land occupation that offends any community should be rectified.
“If someone has unjustly occupied land and caused distress to another, that place must be returned respectfully. This reflects Babasaheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s ideology, which aligns with the principles of Narendra Modi's government,” he asserted.
Taking a jab at Owaisi, Singh claimed that the AIMIM leader is trying to advocate for a Pakistan-like ideology in India: “Owaisi desires India to mirror Pakistan, but as long as Narendra Modi leads, this will never transpire.”
Owaisi’s comments regarding the Waqf Bill surfaced amidst growing discussions surrounding religious properties and land conflicts in India.
The ruling BJP has been advocating for the review and modification of Waqf-related laws, asserting that such regulations ought to align with constitutional principles rather than religious doctrines.
Singh’s vehement response is consistent with the BJP's position, reinforcing the party’s narrative of prioritizing democracy over religious influences in governance.
