Patna, Feb 5 (NationPress) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national president Lalu Prasad Yadav reiterated his pledge to elevate Tejashwi Yadav to the position of Chief Minister of Bihar if his party secures victory in the impending Assembly elections. He emphasized, without naming anyone, that he will remain steadfast and not succumb to pressure.
During an event in Nalanda, Lalu Prasad called upon the populace to unite in support of the RJD to establish the next government in Bihar.
"We must all come together to form our government in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav deserves to be the Chief Minister, and no one should lower their heads," he stated.
"I have never submitted to anyone, nor will I ever. It is essential for us to stand united -- youth, journalists, women, brothers, and sisters -- to safeguard this nation," he declared.
Lalu Prasad, a seasoned RJD figure who is also a former Union Minister and ex-Bihar CM, reaffirmed Tejashwi Yadav's campaign commitments, particularly the Rs 2,500 monthly support for women under the Mai-Bahin Maan Yojana, akin to the initiative launched in Jharkhand.
He also pledged 200 units of free electricity for households and increased job opportunities for the youth.
Following the establishment of the new government under Hemant Soren in Jharkhand, Tejashwi Yadav mentioned the intention to adopt the Maiya Samman Yojana and adapt it into the Mai-Bahin Maan Yojana for Bihar.
Lalu Prasad Yadav's statements come at a pivotal moment as the Bihar assembly elections are slated for this year.
He suggested that the RJD is preparing for a robust electoral contest in Bihar.
Political analysts note that his focus on Tejashwi Yadav's leadership indicates the party's intention to support the former Deputy CM and promote the cricketer-turned-politician as the chief ministerial candidate in the next elections.
Lalu Prasad's visit to Nalanda is viewed as a strategy to rally RJD supporters and strengthen opposition unity ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
Recently, Lalu Prasad has only visited Patna and has not toured any other districts.
This visit is particularly significant as Nalanda is recognized as a bastion of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
