He noted that, based on the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation’s periodic Labour Force Survey for 2018-19, the state’s unemployment ratio was 10 percent against a national average of 5.8 percent.
Saha, who previously served as the state BJP President, stated that since the BJP government assumed office in Tripura in 2018, a total of 16,451 government jobs have been granted to young individuals by January of this year. He emphasized that jobs are being awarded through a highly transparent process, with no complaints or legal disputes surrounding the recruitment procedures. On Wednesday, job offer letters were issued to 2,806 candidates.
Out of the 2,806 candidates, 2,437 multi-tasking staff (Group-D) will be assigned to 37 departments, while 369 pharmacists and laboratory technicians will be positioned in health and other sectors, Saha remarked, labeling the occasion as a historic moment for government job provision.
Earlier in 2023, a pivotal move saw 1,980 young individuals secure positions in Group-C and Agri-assistant roles across 35 departments. The Chief Minister pointed out that the state government has made the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) a prerequisite for obtaining government jobs, ensuring that state residents are prioritized in state job opportunities.
He also mentioned that over the last five years, skill development training has been offered to more than 22,000 youths, who are now employed in various private firms and organizations across different states. The National Career Service Project has seen the establishment of three model career centers in Tripura’s districts to support youth employment, Saha added.
