Bhopal, Feb 5 (NationPress) Farmers on Wednesday decided to end their protest aimed at gheraoing 'Ballabh Bhavan' (State Secretariat) following an assurance from Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda regarding their demands.

Farmers from various regions of the state convened in Bhopal to stage a demonstration under the auspices of RSS Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS).

Before the farmers could advance, Dy CM Devda, along with several BJP leaders, visited the BKS office and requested them to cease their strike.

He affirmed, “The state BJP government has consistently prioritized farmers' welfare, and all their demands will be addressed.”

It is noteworthy that hundreds of farmers from multiple areas of Madhya Pradesh had arrived in Bhopal to take part in the protest.

The farmers organized the protest to highlight issues such as insufficient power supply, irrigation water shortages, and various challenges concerning agricultural land.

Previously, Arvind Singh, a BKS member, mentioned to IANS that farmers are struggling with inadequate irrigation water and delays in fertilizer supply.

“Farmers from different regions gathered and participated in the meeting at the BKS office,” he noted.

To ensure public safety, extensive security measures were implemented around Ballabh Bhawan.

Police barricades were established on the road leading to the Arera Hills area, where Ballabh Bhawan and other governmental offices are located.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and minister Vishwas Sarang stated that the government has always been dedicated to addressing farmers' concerns.

Senior Congress MLA Umang Singhar remarked, “The BJP government has held power for several years, yet farmers are still awaiting the benefits of schemes. I challenge the farmers of the state to confirm this. Will the BJP disclose this in the Budget at the behest of BKS?”

In response, Sarang asserted, “BKS has consistently championed farmers' rights. The Congress should avoid making baseless accusations regarding BKS.”
