Chennai, Feb 4 (NationPress) Tamil actor Karunakaran, who is set to make his debut in Telugu cinema with director Chandoo Mondeti’s Thandel, initially agreed to take on the role but soon after called to admit that he was unfamiliar with the Telugu language.
In an interview, Karunakaran expressed, “I am extremely thankful to Geetha Arts and Allu Aravind sir, as well as director Chandoo Mondeti for this chance. When I heard the story, I was captivated and immediately consented to participate in the film. However, half an hour later, I reached out to them to voice my worries about my lack of Telugu skills. They deliberated among themselves and got back to me within a few hours, assuring me that it wouldn’t be an issue and that they would assist me in learning the language.”
The actor further noted, “I have all the contact numbers for everyone in the crew. That’s because I plan to seek assistance from all of them.”
“I would collaborate with everyone and arrive on set well-prepared, but often the dialogues would change on location. Sai Pallavi was incredibly supportive in this regard,” he mentioned.
Responding to his comments, Sai Pallavi said, “He really didn’t need to stress so much because our director Chandoo was quite relaxed. He never pushed for lip synchronization; his main focus was on the emotions. He would say to just deliver the right expressions, and he would handle the rest. By the time we were halfway through filming, Karunakaran was speaking Telugu quite well. His Hindi is also impressive.”
Featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi as the leads, Thandel also showcases Sundip R Ved as the antagonist. The film boasts a stellar cast alongside a remarkable crew. Devi Sri Prasad, a National Award-winning composer, has created the soundtrack, with cinematography by Shamdat.
The editing is done by Naveen Nooli, a National Award winner, while Srinagendra Tangala heads the art department. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel is produced by Bunny Vasu under the Geetha Arts banner, with Allu Aravind presenting it. The film is scheduled for release on February 7.
