Imphal, Feb 3 (NationPress) Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh stated on Monday that despite the state enduring a loss of four and a half years due to COVID-19 and ethnic violence, the administration has persistently pursued developmental projects in the region.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of multi-storied government quarters at Langol Housing Complex in Imphal West district, the Chief Minister emphasized that since 2017, the government has exerted every effort to initiate transformative changes across both the hills and the valley.
He acknowledged that approximately two and a half years were forfeited to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, in the face of these obstacles, the government has accomplished several significant milestones, he noted.
After the BJP government was re-elected for a second term in 2022, owing to public support, it faced another setback of around two years because of the ongoing ethnic conflict.
“However, the government has not halted its progress; it has continued with developmental initiatives while also striving to address the prevailing issues,” the Chief Minister stressed.
He elaborated that the planned multi-storied housing complex will consist of an 8-storey building, emphasizing the importance of vertical expansion to conserve land.
Additionally, he pointed out similar constructions at New Checkon area where 13 high-rise buildings are underway as government accommodations. The Chief Minister called upon the community to protect the environment, maintain cleanliness, and ensure that drainage systems remain unobstructed.
Highlighting the lost time due to various factors and the state's lengthy rainy season, he urged the construction company and involved contractors to work tirelessly to ensure the building's timely completion.
This project is being undertaken at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 65.60 crore, funded by HUDCO along with the state’s share.
